For a limited time, VE6LK and VE6TD are offering a fully Assembled W8BH Morse Tutor, ESP32 version. This is also known as a CW trainer and is an alternative to the Morserino and many other tutors, however with a much larger colour screen. You can see all of the details on W8BH’s website. As a finished device, it is capable to test your receiving skills with letters, words, numbers, callsigns or mixed content. It is also capable to challenge your sending skills with various on-screen games. With a companion unit you can send head to head. All of the details are here in the user manual.

Note, no power source or Enclosure or enclosure is provided but you can print one yourself with Dann’s 3D print files. Vince keeps his tutor in a small plastic Enclosure that would normally hold a sandwich at lunch time .. each to their own when it comes to enclosures 🙂  We also sell an enclosure, see the store page for details.

How does this compare to the popular Morserino? Both units do roughly the same thing with exercises to challenge you. Both will work head to head with another matching unit. The Morserino has a built-in keyer and ships with integrated Paddles. The W8BH tutor ships with a large colour screen which is easier for the eyes to read.

You’ll receive a fully Assembled Morse Tutor ready for use. Note that no Enclosure or mounting hardware is provided, and that you will need to provide a DC5520 barrel plug (5.5mm with a 2.0mm centre) to power the device between 7 and 15 volts DC centre positive.

The operating manual can be found on the W8BH website here (pdf warning). The device can be powered by a DC5520 or 5.5mm barrel jack connector with a 2.0mm centre pin. The centre pin is POSITIVE and the device can accept between 7 and 15VDC at the barrel input jack. There is a USB port on the device however it is not designed to power the tutor, and some users have reported an unexpected letting out of the magic smoke when trying to use it.
